Workplace stress leads to tragedy for pregnant worker

Workplace stress leads to tragedy for pregnant worker Image

“During the time of my pregnancy at Wal-Mart, I was forced to lift heavy items such as microwaves, compact refrigerators, carpet shampooers etc. When I asked for help, they told me that I didn’t need it. I had to work overtime when I didn’t feel good and the stress of running that department among others was getting to me. One day, I asked if I could go home because my feet were so swollen it hurt to walk. I was told that if I went home, not to come back the next day. So instead I had to go to the shoe dept and buy a new pair of shoes…they were 3 sizes bigger!!! Long story short, after an extra long workday, I suddenly came down with a pregnancy disease called Toxemia. (it can be induced from stress). It is where the placenta tears away from the womb. I had to be rushed into emergency c-section. My baby lived for 3 days before she died in my arms.”
