Deaf Employee’s Request: Ignored
“I am hearing-impaired, but Wal-Mart refused to provide me with a hearing-impaired telephone. I had to submit a letter from my audiologist, telling them that I am basically deaf. I tried to apply for a promotion and they required me to do an interview over the phone, which was difficult considering there was no accommodation made for my disability. Needless to say, I did not get the promotion. I am a good employee, and have received “above standard” on all of my employee evaluations, but have gone three years without a raise. I don’t have many other options.”
