A laid off Sam’s Club employee speaks out
WHERE IS THE SEVERANCE PAY??? IN THE MAIL???I was part of the Sam’s Club lay-offs, I worked the demo department. There are so many things i want to report, mainly the way these lay-offs have affected our lives. I personally have been reduced to standing in a food line to be able to eat.(STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PROMISED SEVERANCE PAY & it’s been, well, six weeks this Sunday) WHERE IS THE SEVERANCE PAY”????? WE DID WHAT YOU WANTED AND WE CAN’T SURVIVE! CALLED THE NORMALLY STAFFED 800 NUMBER TO HEAR A RECORDING ABOUT WHEN WE CAN EXPECT IT, yeah, well, that date has come and gone…We are hungry because of your choices Walmart This is ironic to me….after seeing thousands of dollars worth of groceries and prepared food just thrown out. Sam’s employees are told that they can’t eat it, it must be thrown out and you can’t take it home with you. I’m speaking about perfectly good food that families need so badly. They simply can’t take the time to arrange for it to go where it is needed. You offer to do that…so people can get it and they tell you “NO, we have the second harvest that comes to get the stuff we throw out”
Yet, week after week….no one came and the stuff met the trash compactor….daily. Bread, meats, dairy, produce, seafood, anything and everything that was 5 minutes passed the pull time. HERE’s THE BIGGY YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW…. CROSSMARK IS HAVING SAM/WALL PAY FOR THE UPGRADES TO ANY OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THE DEMO/EVENTS. HEADS UP….Our store hasn’t had new equipment in many years. We work with damaged equipment, dangerous electrical situations, most of us have our own tools because they do not provide necessary items and we get hurt on broken carts, toaster ovens and other items. The remodeling done this year has left us with unfinished concrete floors and a kitchen that has water leaking from the ceiling every time it rains. More often than not, there is no hot water to use to clean our stuff. All of this and those of us who really had no choice, but to come on board with Crossmark, had high hopes that Crossmark would make it different…but we are told today, that WalMart will be responsible for the costs of all repairs and replacements (there will be a lengthy process to obtain what we need)WAKE UP, that same statement has been made for years. This truly makes me believe that this is all some stupid joke..again a way of some sort to cover up something else they are doing. IF Crossmark is now the leader in Demo “EVENTS” why then are the procedures done the same way as before and why then does Walmart still have control over the demo inventory and products used in the demos?
Anyway hopefully someone will shed some light on this….I don’t believe this is just a restructure, or more viable plan to help our members experiance at Sam’s more rewarding” (one of the statements read on that fateful Sunday morning we were “no longer required”)
